How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind when trying to carry out tasks that would have otherwise needed utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machinery make it the best option for performing jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machine needs to be positioned next to an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, units which are older would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area which is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger can potentially take place.
