Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to store pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas tidy. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This model consists of telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This model is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
