Different Types of Aerial Lift
A particular type of heavy equipment which enables a person to be lifted into the air is aerial lifts. These machines are usually utilized to perform repairs on places that are high up in the air like on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Similar to nearly all tools, there are different kinds of aerial lifts which could be utilized to perform various tasks. For the utmost safety, every kind of different kind of equipment needs proper training and specific certification before operation.
Scissor Lifts
Genie lifts are a different name for scissor lifts. These machinery are the most basic type of aerial lift available. These lifts are made of a platform that is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mainly used for indoor applications. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to big carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody could use these tools, employees need to be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are a lot more complicated kind of aerial lift machinery. A boom lift has a wide base to be able to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket which allows the operator to lower and raise the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it could move from side to side too. The boom lift looks like a metal scorpion's tail. Usually, it is used in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run compared to scissor lifts, thus, operators should be licensed separately for these kinds of lifts.
