Change an LPG Cylinder
There are various types of sources which could power forklifts. They could run using gasoline, LP gas or liquid propane, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for numerous uses. There are several facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled whenever they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that can be changed out when the machinery needs to be refueled.
In order to avoid potentially serious injury, specific safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be certain to wear the appropriate safety equipment like heavy gloves, safety glasses or goggles. Make certain that you turned off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use a metal tool or any kind of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened just by using the hand.
